Anyone ever been to South Korea?

I'm leaving tomorrow morning with my musical theatre group to participate in a festival in Gangneung, South Korea.

If anyone's been there, are there any quirks of staying there that I should watch out for?

It would also mean a lot if you could keep us in your thoughts or pray if you pray. Traveling can be stressful.

YAAAAAAAY! KOREA!!!!!!!!!

One thing that immediately comes to mind is that it's VERY polluted. I don't think it's quite as bad as New York, but most of the cars run on diesel, making the environment extremely bad. re: Anyone ever been to South Korea?

Also, people smoke A LOT in Korea. Like...everywhere you go on the street. They smoke. (Especially in Seoul). Don't know so much about Gangneung, but it's a general trait most Korean (men) share.

Please don't make fun of our accents when we give silly attempts to speak "engurrish" re: Anyone ever been to South Korea?

Have a great time! And hope the flight goes okay.

My husband lived there for a year. He loved it. People are very polite in Korea. If you buy a jacket or something like that they will help you try it on, don't try to tip them though, because my husband says that it is not expected and almost considered rude. PM me if you want to learn a few quick words in hangul to help you get around. re: Anyone ever been to South Korea?

I was born there and I've been there a couple times since then... It's humid

Careful how short your shorts are, most Koreans seem to wear shorts to below or just above ther knee.

Just to show what's going down, this is a news article about what we're doing over there. In the pictures, I'm the girl with the bright red hair. The camera freaked out at the color, it doesn't really glow.

I was there briefly for work and regret that I did not have any sighseeing time. re: Anyone ever been to South Korea? My biggest impression was that there were a lot of adds on American tv for the army base.
I would love to return and work with Universal Ballet.

I just wanted to say that I'm now safely in Gangneung South Korea and thank you for all of your help. We're the only English speaking group here, but it's still awesome. we haven't slept in around 40 hours but we're still running around like the untamed beasts we Americans all are.

Man, that was a long trip.
