Hey guys,
most unfortunately I took a spill during a rehearsal and have now injured my knee. Stinks. show opens tonight without me, but hoping to possibly get back in there at some piot during the 3 week run.
Anyone ever had any damage to ligaments (MCL) or other twists of knees, etc.? I've had ankel troubles but never knee - just wanna know what to expect in terms of time it takes to heal, etc.
Thanks in advance!
I injured my knee this summer in the show that I was in. I had an MRI done and everything, and I bruised the top of my knee cap or something. I don't remember. It took me about a month to actually completely recover with physical therapy about two or three times a week. But I was slowly put back in the show during that month and then screwed it up some more during another show and had to wait another two weeks. It wasn't fun. Anyhow, I'd just see how much some physical therapy would help you and take it from there.

I took a spill doing a tap dance for the first grade class I used to help teach. Luckily, I wasn't in any shows then. But, I couldn't attend dance classes for three weeks.
I think I tore something, I forgot. I just know it was close to being broken, but It was three years ago. But, now, I'm like an old man, whenever the weather is bad my knee acts up.

Physical Therapy and a good physical therapist. Key to healing. Swimming helps too
I have tendonitis in both knees and torn cartilege in my right knee. My biggest piece of advice: LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR. Even if you have to take time off, like I did from dance, and it was miserable, just do it. I went back too soon and that's how went from weak cartilege to torn. Go to Physical Therapy, do the exercises, and be careful. Waiting a few extra days or weeks is worth preventing years of pain and added problems.
I had to have orthoscopic surgery done on my right knee......not pretty
My knees are incredibly screwed up from lyme disease. When I got an MRI a couple years ago they said I had a loose patella. I should be exersizing and getting strength but I don't have time. I was in physical therapy awhile back and that did help.

Having danced, figure skated and played sports since I was very little, I've been injured many times...... (too many for me to sit here and count, actually) Most recently, I blew my knee out during a car accident Thanksgiving Weekend.
The most important thing you can do is listen to everything your doctor tells you to do, down to the very last detail. I can't stress that enough. I'll admit that I'm overwhelmingly stubborn and I don't, but years after suffering some of these injuries -- and only a few short months after my most recent -- I can tell you I'm feeling the pain of not listening.
Your DR will probably want you to do physical therapy.... do it. And for as long as he says you need to. Yeah, most of the stuff they're going to have you do seems stupid and corny, but in the long run it will actually help strengthen your knee (or whatever the injured area) and prevent further injury.
Most importantly, stay off it. I know it's somewhat impossible and you hate feeling like an invalid (I know that's how I felt), but you haaaave to do it. It sounds like a very small and inconsequential detail right now but trust me, it pays off.
Feel better! Getting injured SUCKS! (especially right before a show -- been there, done that too.... only I got completely replaced in that company!)
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
