About every third or 4th time I turn on my laptop, I get this Windows prompt about an error with "Win32" or some such, asking if I want to send a report to Microsoft. I sent a report once, but after several weeks, got the prompt again.
Anyone else getting this, who has latter editions of Windows?(XP, etc.) In 2004 there was once a worm that affected Win32, but my Nortons is up to date, and I have no current virus.
Auggie, the SAME EXACT THING happens on MY Laptop--and its only two months old!
I have an Acer TravelMate with XP Professional--what are you using?
MaryEthel. Just so relieved to hear!
I have a Dell Inspiron 2600, circa late 2002, and use Windows XP. I don't get it, but I have been hyper about rnning my virus check ever since, because, as I posted, a worm used to affect that Win32 thing. But there's nothing in my computer.
Is this a strange softwear glitch that really doesn't hurt us? I used to get a strange prompt in Microsoft Word about "runtime library" and it has mysteriously disappeared. Let's stay on top of this Mary__Ethel. Someone more knowing may help us! Thanks.
Y'know, it might have something to do with the last XP update...
I don't know how helpful this is going to be, but once I had a random virus on my computer (It didn't say Win32 though, it was just...weird) and I restored my computer to when I got the virus. It was fine after that. Hope that helped-- good luck to you both!
Try looking at Windows update site. Often they list what's the what on things like this.
I sometimes get the runtime library problem (something ending with .dll). It's usually (I think...someone with brains will correct me for this misinformation otherwise) that that's a memory problem.
