For some reason my HAIRSPRAY DVD will not be read by my DVD player. When I put it in, it acknowledges that it's a DVD, but the menu never pops up.
It works on my computer. And my DVD player will read all of my other DVDs.
Any idea what the problem could be? Anyone else having similar problems?
Probably a bad bootleg.
I do have a problem with mine. It is something called a "John Travolta". Anyone know how to fix THIS problem?
It's not a bootleg.
It's the two disc version I ordered off of AMAZON.
Plus, a friend of mine rented it from Blockbuster the other day and those DVDs wouldn't work in my DVD player either.
I was just kidding.(About the bootleg, not the "travolta")
I have had this problem in the past. If it works in other players, it is obviously not the DVD. Are you sure the DVD player and all the settings are correct? Is the TV on the right channel, etc?
Yes because other DVDs work in the player.
In fact, the second disc on the two disc version works. The one with the special features/documentary.
But the first disc, (with the movie on it) will not work. Plus, the blockbuster discs with the movie on it didn't work either. But, they work on my computer.
Your player most likely needs cleaning.
"I do have a problem with mine. It is something called a "John Travolta". Anyone know how to fix THIS problem?"
You slap the director and ask him WHY?
Get one of those lens cleaner dvd's and pop it in. Hopefully that will take care of it.
Nope. Turns out my DVD player was just old.
I got it about eight years ago and, apparently, the "Hairspray" DVD had new features that my player wasn't equipped for. At first I'd think my player needed cleaning, but the fact that it played all of my DVDs except both of the "Hairspray" copies that I tried led me to believe that perhaps my player was just old.
So, I popped out and got a new DVD player for a good price at Best Buy (thank goodness it was Black Friday.) And it works fine on that one. We needed a new player, anyhow...this was just what finally pushed me into getting one.
Thanks for everyone's help.
