I took one year of French in college and stopped after the professor, a native speaker, told me that I was "murdering the language with my midwest twang".

When I'm working in France in the summer, people can uderstand what I'm saying but know I'm an American.
My Italian pronunciation is far better and I've been told I have a real "Roman" accent. This causes Italians to think I'm a native and they chatter on a great length to me. Unfortunately, my Italian vocabulary isn't as large as my French. Zut alors!

J'ai parle les francais Canadiane. Dans France je suis dit "Je suis desole pour mon language..." usually they speak English to me then! (LOL)

Richard, you're right.
My command of Engligh can definitely improve. I'm working at it though and I always strive to build my vocabulary, too. Thanks for not letting me lose sight of my goal.
