Hey guys...
I may have one extra ticket to the U2 concert in Brooklyn tomorrow afternoon. Most of my friends aren't able to go because of class, and I still have yet to hear back from a couple others (so if one of them can indeed make it, I guess this is all moot), but I figured I'd throw it out there. It's tomorrow afternoon (they said to get there at 2:30, though I'll probably try to get there earlier). I'm going to have to find someone to go if the people I'm still waiting on can't make it, because they've given specific instructions that if you are unable to use all of your tickets, no one from your party will be allowed in...I'm sure there'll be people there before the show looking for tix, but I figured I'd ask here too.
Sorry for adding yet ANOTHER U2 thread folks!!
You have no idea how much I wish I lived in NYC right now (I'm a U2 freak).
I'm in the city. Just PMed you.
:)
Awww...sorry Elphie! I think I may try to be a rebel and bring my camera even though you're not suppsed to. If I do happen to get anything quasi-discernible I'll let you know!
...spoken for...
I'm writhing in jealously right now. Have a good time and POST SOME PICS!!
I shall try my best to cover as many of the "Please Do Not's" as possible. If I'm feeling ballsy enough, I may even bring my audio recorder. I'm always so nervous about bringing a camera etc. to concerts, worried that it'll be confiscated. Then, every time without fail, my bag is barely glanced at and once the concert starts there's a barrage of flashes from everyone else. ARG! So I'm sure if I bring my camera tomorrow, they'll thoroughly check bags! Always a no win situation!
Go for a disposable camera (or two...or five, since this IS U2)! Audio recorder might be a bit riskier...but there's a way to record on an iPod, right?
I'm still debating what I'm going to do...though I know whatever I decide on, I'll end up kicking myself about it later. The disposable camera option crossed my mind, but I have a feeling there'll be so many people there that it'll be kind of useless (for any camera, not just a disposable). I don't have an iPod, so I don't know what their recording capabilities are. If people actually still listened to cassettes, I could shove some headphones in my recorder and try to pass it off as my portable music player, but I don't think that'd fly nowadays! We shall see. But I'll keep you posted about what happens tomorrow!

if you put the camera in your pocket you shouldnt have a problem. they can search your bag, but they can't search you unless they think you're packin lol
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Really? When I went to a silverchair/Hole concert a while back, they did the pat down and the whole ten yards (unfortunately, it was right at the time that the disposable camera decided to slip down and out of my then-bf's pant leg).
The only thing that I worry about w/ putting my camera in my pocket now (and that's what I used to do before 9/11) is that more and more often now, they're wanding you w/ the metal detector things. That's why I opted not to bring my camera w/ me when I saw REM a couple weeks ago. It ended up that they wanded (for lack of a better term!) the men, but waved me over to someone else who gave a half second glance in my bag (how ridiculous is that?!?!?! Though if I'd had a clue, I would have taken advantage of the situation
) Eh, whatever happens happens. I can't believe I'm sitting here trying to plot out a plan on how to do something that's less than legal anyway! And I'm bringing all of you in on the action! Naughty, naughty! Hahah!
Oh sweetie, we're doing this for purely selfish reasons. If you were seeing, say, Hillary Duff, I wouldn't give two sh1ts what you do with your camera.
And how did you LOVE REM?!? They were recording here in Vancouver last year (or was it the year before) and they did an impromptu surprise concert at one of the clubs here and I nearly DIED.
The REM concert was ABSOLUTELY amazing! It was their first concert after the election, and you could tell how hard they all took it. They opened with "It's the End of the World as We Know It" which I guess they hadn't been playing at all on this tour. It kicked some serious ass! I was up in the nosebleeds and everyone up there was pretty low key, but I still had a hell of a time! I hadn't gotten Around the Sun yet, so I didn't really know any of those songs (other than "Leaving New York") and there were a few others that I wasn't all that familiar w/, but it was truly amazing! I'm such a dork...I called my mom, so she could listen to "Losing My Religion" and "Man on the Moon." She enjoys Stipe and Co, but isn't a huge fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I knew she'd love hearing those two! It was crazy though; at the end of the concert Michael Stipe pulled his pants down and hopped around the stage (up onto the monitors and everything) in his boxers! Quite amusing to say the least...really kicking myself there for not having a camera (not that it'd really come out in the nosebleeds, but STILL! Stipe hopping around in his boxers just screams "take a picture of me!!!") I guess when they were in Boston the week before, he put on a Red Sox jersey for the encore. I'm from NH originally and I'm a HUGE Sox fan, so I wish I could have seen that! I guess the crowd went NUTS (since it was only a couple days after the World Series).

...I wanna live in NYC...*sniffles*
Have they said anything about touring yet? My parents had an extra ticket to the Elevation tour, but I turned them down (wasn't a fan YET. Interestingly, it was a combination of Tomb Raider and 9/11 that got me into the band).
The U.S. tour kicks off in Florida in March. That's all that's been announced. I've been desperately searching for more info because I'm definitely going to see them on this tour, no matter what! (I missed the Elevation tour because of stupid time conflicts).
Mabel, have an AWESOME time! Just bring whatever you feel comfortable about (camera, recorder, etc.) and enjoy yourself. And please share whatever you have of the concert afterwards, even if that's just stories!

Oh, me too. I'll drive back home if that's what it takes. I've seen Rattle & Hum about 20 times and was just in awe of the live performances in that.
