I think the maltipoo is the cutest...

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

I also think pomeranians are really cute when kept short haired like the one above. Or, are there short-haired pomeranians?

Wow, this thread really exploded while I was away! That never happens to my threads! *glows* Thanks for all the advice!

To clarify a bit - what I would ideally like to do is get a slightly older puppy from the Humane Society. That way, they're not a few weeks old and I get to rescue a puppy - also, that seems to be the cheapest way to go, unless I find a good "free to good home" ad in the classifieds.

In a shelter, especially with puppies, you're probably going to end up finding mostly mixed-breeds. In many shelter cases, though, the lineages of the litters are educated guesses. It's often unknown (and hard to figure out) what the parents are when puppies come in to a shelter, or sometimes they'll know the breed of one parent, etc. So, it's kind of a crapshoot as to how big the dog will grow up to be, which I'd assume is a consideration in a small apartment. With such unclear backgrounds, it's also hard to guess what the dog's disposition is likely to be, too. Something to keep in mind, I guess. While I do very much advocate adopting from a shelter, you may be better off getting a dog that's at least a year old if you're going to take that route.

Hmmm - good call. My mom is allergic to every animal on God's green earth, so I never had a pet growing up, save a caged rabbit which we kept for maybe a year. I'm painfully pet-dumb... re: Apartment Puppy!

awww, no worries. I've only had fish, actually. I work at a shelter back home, so I've picked up a lot.
