It's not not a religious requirement, but it's still commonly done in Muslim countries. If you go by the religious mythology, when God told Abraham to circumcise the men of his household, that included Ishmael.

The ones that I knew about all were, and they were from a variety of different countries- Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Jordan etc. (No, I didn't sleep with all of them.)

At any rate, it would seem that, as PRS suspected, most men outside the U.S. indeed are not circumcised. (Though this info is from Wikipedia, so anyone who cares can verify it elsewhere.)
