Crash is all about race. The Academy has done their part for race already.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

CRASH is a big ol' piece of didactic suck-ass. F**K THE OSCARS!

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I liked Crash alot, but felt BBM was a better film. I don't think that winning Best Picture means squat, it certainly is NO measure of a film's quality--you need only do a cursory check on Academy history to show that.

I think the problem lies in expectations--which is why I never read reviews of films I plan to see, it creates an image and a standard that the film might not live up to, so you get disappointed. That's what happened with me with Forrest Gump, though I doubt I'd like it under any circumstances. I also felt that way about History of Violence, Munich and Squid and the Whale this year--I was expecting masterpieces and I didn't feel like I got them--so my estimation of those movies fell--I think that's why some people are nonplussed with BBM. Or maybe they just don't like it. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
