Remember that your definition of "blow-up" includes conservative outlets like Fox News and Drudge, which protect the administration, and other outlets like NBC, ABC, the Washington Post and the New York Times, all of which were made accessories to the crime when Rove and Cheney leaked Plame's identity to them. So this will never have that kind of 24/7 coverage.
The legal ramifications of this are enormous. If the political climate and the mood of the country were spoiling for a witchhunt, a lot more reporters and TV personalities could face jail sentences. They all got calls from the White House and they all told other people that Wilson's wife was with the CIA. (See the Ari Fleischer quote in my signature.)
Speaking of which, Judy Miller's on today! Good times!

Judy Miller just SLAYS me, the way she talks shirley temple babytalk, like butter wouldnt melt in her mouth...she really tries to play up that "intrepid girl reporter" thing.

so john dickerson of slate says ari never told him what he says he under oath that he did. does this help or hurt the case against scooter? what does david gregory remember? this is a jury trial, right? how will this affect ari's credibility?

I believe they ALL knew her name and that she was undercover and they're ALL lying.
The outrageous act that Bush and Cheney committed was to give the entire White House press corps the legal and moral equivalent of an incurable contagious virus.
Each time Cheney and Rove and Libby and Fleischer told someone else in the press corps about Wilson's wife, they infected that reporter with a disease they could never get over: The reporter now knew the identity of a covert CIA operative. Why did none of them blow the whistle? They knew if they did, their careers in the DC press corp--which is based on confidentiality--would be over.
Plus--now they were accessories to a crime. And so [WARNING: conspiracy theory]...they ALL conspired keep it quiet.
And now they all have to live with the fact that they helped this administration lie to get into a wrongheaded war and endangered CIA agents and probably got Plame's informants in Iran killed.
So they're ALL twisting in the wind, and their stories don't mesh.
Personally, I think Dickerson is lying. I think he knew, because I think they ALL were told.

"On the specific issue of Scooter Libby and whether or not he lied when he said he learned about a CIA operative from NBC's Tim Russert on July the 10th. 2003. Judy Miller testified in the last hour that there were two conversations that she had with Scooter Libby -- before that date -- when she said she heard from Scooter Libby talking about Joe Wilson and Valerie Wilson and Valerie Wilson worked at the counter-proliferation division at the CIA. Once again, this bolsters the prosecution argument that after the criminal investigation into the leak began, Scooter Libby told investigators and told the grand jury, he only first learned about the CIA operative from reporters in July. The prosecution is again introducing yet another witness who is saying that Libby was talking about that same Valerie Wilson before Libby's conversations with reporters."

so do you think he is taking the fall for karl?
i feel that they are both guilty, but this cant be what scooter thought was gonna happen.
especially addington stickin in the shiv today.
since he took over scooter's job, that must add another layer of pain & humiliation.
when he made his comment about not being sacrificed for karl, what was his intention? creating reasonable doubt? distraction? a warning to the WH that he's gonna sing if convicted?
i admit its petty of me, but i really enjoyed reading how uncomfortable & unhappy judy was on the stand!

Libby's lawyers want to discredit Judy's testimony by making her name ALL her other sources. They say one of her other sources told her that Plame was covert.
Could Judy's other source be Cheney?
