I don't know if many of you would know, and i know this is BROADWAYworld, not OperaWorld, but perhaps some of you will help anyway.
my dear friend is a mezzo-soprano, and I have a reeeeally great aria for her, however I don't know the name of it or where it's from. I've heard it twice, and both times I found it absolutely haunting. Some words that I picked ou:
"Addio, rispondi"
"Aditte"
"Adicce"
Or something like that.
I know it's kind of a shot in the dark here, but I also can say that it's slow tempo, and somewhere in there she goes "rispoooondi" and holds out the "o" (sound slike aw)
Thanks to anyone who takes a crack at this!

Can you pinpoint the style?
ie does it sound classical (Mozart) ar romantic (Verdi)?
Well, it's certainly classical, and as far as which composer, I wish I knew. It sounds more on the early side of opera.

Well, if it sounds earlier, it's probably Mozart or Gluck, if it's well known (ie you've heard it).
PS: Someone should start an OperaWorld.
Since it's a mezzo aria, it may be fom Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice.
i found it! (Che Faro from Orfeo) thanks much!
And there should be an operaworld. There's a message board, but it's french (in french, by french, etc), and they can be rather bitter over there!
