Of course he was "allowed" to commit suicide. Why the hell did they give him a bedsheet? Let him sleep in his own sweat. Why did the cell have something from which he could hang himself?
They take away your belt and shoelaces, but give you a sheet. Right.

who ever gave him that bed sheet deserves a medal.
he saved the taxpayers a lot of money.
