Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

SHIZ KID: (noun)- An individual with a curiously twisted devotion to the Broadway Musical "Wicked". Such humans tend to dress remarkably similar to the characters in the show and believe that the actors portraying said characters will be flattered by their efforts. Also see: Wicklyn; psycho.

Ugh. Well. I was in NYC on Sunday with intentions of seeing Sho's last show (ew akward pun) but that didn't happen. We headed over to TKTS and got tix for Sweeney Todd (which was FANTASTIC) but then went back to the Wicked stagedoor to see if we could get a few pictures. While waiting for the cast to come out, this is who came sprinting to the door:

Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

Yep. Three real-live Shiz Kids aka Wicklyns aka crazy fans who decided that it would be a GREAT idea to dress like Elphaba, Nessa, and Galinda. I don't know how well you can see them but the girl on the right in cream is Galinda and the girl with the hat and braid is Elphaba. Nessa is hidden but she wasn't in a wheelchair so her costume wasn't that authentic(....)

Anyway, lets just say that one of them was CLUTCHING her tattered copy of the Wicked novel and they were gushing the entire time.

This was my reaction:
Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

They were screaming things and I kinda lost focus during the picture.

All in all a great day. Just beware when you see little gurlies in green tights...stay away...far far away.

I had just finished shooting a coffee commercial. And ain't it ironic? I don't drink coffee. Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee.

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

It wouldn't be an awkward pun if you used her full name. It's Shoshana.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Ha! That expression is very funny. I am getting more and more grateful I was able to stage door the night before when it was calm.

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

This is seriously RIDICULOUS! I really like Wicked and have seen it multiple times, but it is just pathetic to think that people need to dress up when they go see it. If I were a member of the cast, I would be truly frightened!

Defy_Gravity2, how did you choose your screen name?

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

I went green faced when I saw it the second time in Hartford, but I didn't attack anyone at the stage door, I didn't demand autographs or pictures, and I didn't run up to someone who wanted to leave. The first time I saw it on Broadway, I didn't even go to the stage door. I didn't want to see actors bombarded and mobbed.

So, I don't know if I'm a Shiz Kid or not.

The expression on your face is priceless. re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

But, what's the deal with Elphies being white. I thought Elphies were greeeeeeeeen. And no wheelchair? The shame! The shame! I even came in a bubble the last time I saw Wicked! But I was a bad shizhead and well, I wasn't at Sho's last Show!

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

So, what exactly is the harm in kids dressing up like characters from WICKED, to themselves or others?

It makes them ripe for mockery on message boards.

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

It only bothers me if they were screaming and crying. I assume they were.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

I was there, I saw them.

I have more issue with people such as yourself who didn't even see the show that day and came to crowd at the stage door.

re: Attack of the SHIZ KIDS

LOL, I don't mean to be mean or snarky, but you can't complain about other shiz kids who dress up for the show if you come to the stage door to get autographs and pictures when you didn't even see the show. Sorry, that's just my opinion.
