Enough. Never, ever, ever use Natalie Cole's "This Will Be" in a preview ever again. I know she probably lets you have unlimited use for, like, a nickel. But it is sooooooo tired. (Yes, this means you, Must Love Dogs.)

And while we're at it, we already know that "Ow! I feel good!"

I'd like to put in a request to

a) not give the ending away in the trailer. Even if we don't "know" it's the ending.. we'll be waiting for a scene that looks like that and if it's not in the first hour - we know what's coming next

b) While it's important to show how funny a movie is - using ALL the best lines (if there are only 3 or 4) is a mistake.

c) previews without any dialogue, any narration, that play like a video game commerical do nothing to sell your movie - even if it's just an action flick.

We could make a list of songs that are WAY overused--How about the fact that I want to slit my wrists anytime I hear

"Ain't no mountain high enough!"

"We are family!"

and sometimes scores from other films are over used. I can't think which films, but you know what I'm talkin' bout!

And, um, can we PLEASE give "O Fortuna" a rest in ALL media??

And for heaven's sake don't use an American narrator for an English movie. It just sounds weird.

They use the music from Nightmare Before Xmas's 'What's This' in just about any 'magical family adventure' movie, they use the theme from 'The Fugitive' in all sorts of action movies ...

But, actually, I think whomever made the 'Dukes of Hazzard' trailer would have been better served to show no dialogue other than 'YEE HAAAAAA!' if they wanted people to see that god-awful looking movie.

Am I the only one who thinks Jessica Simpson's face is more frightening than attractive?

"Wacky comedy" trailers always begin the same way:

(All serious music...)

"He is bold..."

"He is brilliant..."

"He is their last hope..."

"And he has...(The main character does something "wacky")...NO MANNERS WHATSOEVER!"

Followed IMMEDIATELY by James Brown informing us that, "Ow! I feel good!" Right?

They push the cliche buttons because they're trying to build an audience. For people who like stupid comedies, push Button A. For people who like self-important wannabe Oscar grabbers, push Button B. For people who just want to see people blowing up ****, push Button C. Any movie that doesn't fit genre cliches is in deep trouble come promotion time unless its ad people are really smart.
