I landed an appointment to a principal audition for a semi-professional production of "Guys and Dolls". I am stoked beyond belief, and I have a little less than a month to prepare, which is fantastic. I have played both female leads at one point in time, once for a dinner theatre and once for a community production. Both roles were due to the fact that cold reads from the script were provided at auditions.

This audition is a little more ambiguous. The roles are so drastically different, and I have no idea where to start. The audition asks that I prepare a contemporary monologue in addition to my 32 bars. Anyone have any suggestions for a contemporary monologue and/or audition song that I could go in with? Any ideas if I decide to try for Adelaide? What about if I try for Sarah? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm at a loss as to where to start! My main goal is just to deliver a strong audition. Thanks friends!

So who are you, innately? Adelaide or Sarah? Are you likely to be cast in either role? If so, then do one of her songs so that they know why you're there. If you're more realistically going to be considered for ensemble, then sing something that shows off your blend voice.
