I'm auditioning at a couple of schools and want to find 2 theatre songs and a classical. I am a Soprano. I REALLY love Sondheim and R&H, and I will take any suggestions and look them up. Don't know why, but I just like that operatic sound, you know? But I'd also like suggestions for more modern musicals. Thank you! :)
Hi! I'm a soprano too, and I'm in this search process as well. Just thought I'd share some of what I've found.These are musical theatre tunes obviously. I don't know much about classical, though I do know that Il Mio Bel Foco (which is an Italian Aria) has worked well for me in the past. ~Check out She Loves Me. I suggest not dong Vanilla Ice Cream because it's overdone, but Will He Like Me? is a great song. ~The Apple Tree is great. Feelings or Gorgeous are fun songs. ~I normally like to stay away from Beauty and the Beast, especially A Change In Me but Home is a good song. ~Practically Perfect from Mary Poppins ~Grey Gardens has a lot of soprano things. Pretty much anything from that show. Will You? is an especially good song. ~Sleepy Man from the Robber Bridegroom. Can't find it anywhere but it would be lovely. ~Moonfall from the Mystery of Edwin Drood is a good song.
Anyways I hope that helps. I just suggest staying away from all that overdone stuff. You know. But don't be afraid to do something that may be a little more popular if you can pull if off really well. Good luck!
