Hey everyone,
I am planning on auditioning for a production of Urinetown this June, and am going to audition for the role of Hope. What are some good songs that I could use to audition with? Some of my ideas were "Out of My Dreams" from Oklahoma and "If I Loved You" from Carousel, but I'm afraid that they might be too classic. Thanks!

Oh! I hope i'm not too late!
While those would be fine, I think you should attempt to have a little more modern sound. There's a few other silly soprano songs out there that would work really well. This is what I thought of:
Pulled from the Addams Family (This is a bit more belty now that I think of it)
Best Night of My Life from Applause
Passover from Elegies: a Song Cycle
Will He Like Me? from She Loves Me (some say Vanilla Ice Cream is too overdone, but I find it to be a rather good piece if you can totally kill it)
Is It Really Me? from 110 in the Shade (or Simple Little Things)
Cockeyed Optimist from South Pacific might be fine too
Not all of these have a modern sound like I was talking about, but that's okay. Hopefully this gets the juice flowing. Sorry i was late hope this helps a little bit!

But also, if you can totally kill a song, and it's a bit overdone, I say do it anyways! Unless it's from those such as: Wicked, Phantom, etc... There are songs that work for me so well that I just do them anyways. As long as you are confident about your choices.
