For our school production this year, our teacher has decided to put on a 60's Musical Revue. We have to prepare an upbeat rock'n'roll 60's song for the audition song. Some of the people/songs/shows he had on the list are: Tina Turner, Dusty Springfield, The Beatles, Carole King, Ray Charles, The Beach Boys, Janis Joplin, The Ronettes, Ellie Greenwich, "Hit the road Jack", "One Fine Day", "My Boyfriend’s Back", Hair, and Hairspray.
I'm trying to stray from Hairspray since the majority will be singing songs from that show. I was wondering if you had any suggestions of songs I could prepare for the audition? The songs are not limited to this list, this is just what he gave all of us.

Could you maybe tell us you...umm..range?
No one can help you right now, since we kind of don't know your voice...
My personal fave: "Chapel of Love" - by the Dixie Cups
Quintessential 60's!
*slaps self in head* sorry, forgot about that part!
okay. i'm a soprano, but people think i sound better as an alto because i also have a lot of power in low notes.
some people have been recommending that i sing "Proud Mary".

Hi, AudreyTwoTwo! OK, first of all, you are very talented. You're in high school, right? Very nice work. After listening to you, I think you can handle "Proud Mary." Just be sure to really sell it. That song is more about the attitude than anything else. Another choice would be "Easy To Be Hard" from Hair. Again, after hearing your voice, I think you'd sound very good on that song.
Break a leg!
Thanks!
Oka, I will definitely consider those.
Agree..go with "Easy to be Hard"...beautifully lyrical pop ballad with alot of punch for a young lady's audtion . Listen to the OBC to get the idea.
Break a a Leg. You sound really good.
