Hey where did you find your monologues at? I need to find a few funny contemporary monologues from a play that fit my age group 17-18. Do you know any?
The stage manager in OUR TOWN has some monolouges that can(if adapted well) be used to your advantage.
I guess.
(im not the greatest search engine for things like these, so if what I've said is no help or does not make sense I apologize.)
Please, however, Tell me so that i don't look like a fool again if another thread like this comes up.
Uhh yeah

dude you're too harsh on yourself - any help is good help :)
not that i can help much - i'm a chick for starters, lol
Just So (title song) is a gudden,
good shows to look at: children of eden, on the town, loads of good R&H stuff ('this nearly was mine' is a fave), Spelling Bee
best song ever: something's coming - WSS
Have you got a theatre library close by????
It's all about listening to as much as poss. I buy my musical theatre cds from ebay. I'm a student, i can't aford to spend a tenner on something i technically don't need.

Ok.
So getting back on topic...
What exactly is "R&H", or do you mean "Rodgers & Hammerstein"?
Any other insights would be GREATLY appreciated.

In my personal repertorie I have:
My Funny Valentine from Babes In Arms
Steppin' Out from Easter Parade (which is a film, but is a musical film so there you go)
Purpose from Avenue Q
Why from Tick Tick
Monologues:
Mr. Antrobus from Thorton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth (Fantastic play, both Antrobus and Henry monologues.)
Suffolk from Henry the sixth part two
Henry from The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard
Quentin from After the Fall by Arthur Miller
Trinculo from the Tempest
And an Oedipus Monologue
I definently need some more comedic pieces. Look at Neil LaBute, Neil Simon, and Tom Stoppard for some funny pieces that are fairly straightfoward. Albee, Durang, and even Wilder offer some hilarious off beat absurd pieces.

A great audition song I've found is "The Jolly Roger." Its not a musical theater piece but it may as well be. It's upbeat enough to be thoroughly entertaining and belty enough to show off some power notes! It is also not very well known so its refreshing for the directors to hear.

What about more contemporary stuff.
(post 1970s)
So far, I found a lot of good material through reading random plays.
