I'm a 15 year old mezzo-soprano, and I'm trying out for the Musical Mame and have no direction for an Audition Song. In the past, I've used songs like "Mama Who Bore Me" (Spring Awakening), "Once Upon a December" (Anastasia), and "Hello, Young Lovers" (King and I), but I don't think any of those really go with Mame at all (though, admittedly, I'm not all that familiar with it). I looked at Hello Dolly a bit, since it's also by Jerry Herman, but most of those songs have belts in them that are a bit tricky for my voice. I was thinking that maybe I'd do "Honey Bun" from South Pacific, but it might not be the type of song the directors are looking for. Anybody have suggestions? Is there anything that might work from La cage aux folles? Thanks!
