I guess I can finally let the cat out of the bag - this is why Wildcat hasn't had time to post lately - he's the team captain! We're proud of ya, twinboy!!

It's about time we made it.
The 2002 World Cup mishap for us was just terrible...I remember that last match all too clearly.
At least we got one up on Uruguay for once...

paradox_error - 2002 in Montevideo was nothing compared to the misery of 1998 against Iran at the MCG. Oh that was a dreadful dreadful day.

It's just unfair how Oceania gets treated differently to all the other regions...
Why does Europe get so many participants, and Oceania so few?

I know nothing about soccer but still watched it.! Suddenly I'm a soccer fan.The worst thing I heard today is that Mike Brady has already written a new theme for the team (ugh).

I need very little reason to get sucked back in as a soccer fan. There was a time when a large portion of my time was spent at games. Pelé, Beckenbauer, Chinaglia, Maradona. Saw 'em all. And I wouldn't be honest if I didn't admit to having had a little bit of a crush on Carlos Alberto...
I'm a lapsed fan in search of a team. Austrialia works just fine for me.
Congratualations! And keep up the updates.

Ricky Davis? Absolutely.
And how about Johan Neeskins and Marinho?
I still can't spot an offside to save my life, but those really were fun times. Enhanced, of course, by massive amounts of Jagermeister.

Why does Europe get so many participants, and Oceania so few?
Basically because everybody else in the conference sucks and any full place for Oceania would pretty much be a 'Australia by default' pos
This is the current placing for all the teams in the Oceania Conference in the world ranking (out of 205):
50 Australia
111 New Zealand
137 Tahiti
138 Solomon Islands
139 Fiji
148 Vanuatu
165 Papua New Guinea
178 Samoa
184 Tonga
185 New Caledonia
193 Cook Islands
205 American Samoa
And tnat is out of 205. Pretty pathetic ain't it? It is also the reason why Australia is leaving the converence and joining the Asian Conference where we will be playing real teams that are actually good.

I loved Uruguay claiming that they a divine right to go the World Cup. They promptly lost to Australia.

i have the mug right beside me but i'm trying to figure out how to transfer the photo. i tried taking a picture of the mug but it comes out blurry....
i have to be around 7 or 8 in the photo, so i'm guessing it is 1978 or 1979. i know it was when the cosmos moved to giants stadium to play (plus, in the background of the photo a woman is holding a can of "TAB")
