I hate automated phone systems. I cannot figure out how to get an agent. I'm frustrated. Sorry, just wanted to vent about this stupid system that does not let you talk to a live person.
The Today Show recently did a segment about how to by-pass automated systems and get to a live person... I think there's a link on their website to another site which provides people with the correct keypad entries to get to the live operator option.
It's so frustrating...

Don't you usually press "0"? Or "00"?
What I really hate is when you're using one of those things and someone feels the need to talk to you at that very moment, so you don't hear your choice and you have to listen to the stupid voice going through the whole cycle again and ARGH...yeah.
0 and 00 do not work in many cases.....but hitting the star key, in many cases, does......
I must take this opportunity to thank J.C. Penny Customer Service. I have had to call them a couple of times to place and or cancel orders. There is NOTHING automated about their Customer Service! When you call you never have to press 1 for this or press 2 for that. If anything, you'll be automatically put on hold (for no more than 5 minutes it seems) and the agent who takes your call is trained to do any and everything. How refreshing!
Give them a call and see for yourself! 1-800-322-1189

For those times when pressing "0" does not work, check this site out:

It's not so important to them when they leave you hanging for twenty minutes. :-P
Getting a real person on the line isn't that much better, especially when it's AOL. I was transferred to 3 different departments before the person I was talking to asked for my billing information, so they could send me a "complimentary" copy of video professor, free with the cost of shipping and handling. I hung up on her right then.
The worst part? I don't even have AOL.
If you were speaking to AOL, odds are you were speaking to someone in India
