The board automatically reformats the pictures to fit it. You might want to recrop the photo if you want to make the image appear bigger.

A way I've found to get a clearer or larger image is to crop it rectangular with a vertical bias. AKA, the taller and skinnier your image, the larger your thumbnail.
'Sin City' may be a much smaller image... but it's taller, so it appears bigger.
