Haven't listened to this in ages (the Color Me Barbra Album circa 1966?). ( can't find YouTube right now ) If you've never heard this rendition, do yourself a favor...also, "Lover Man" rendition - fabulous!
I love Barbra, especially primo 1960s Streisand. MY NAME IS BARBRA and COLOR ME BARBRA are some of the finest hours in the history of television.
But "C'est Si Bon" drives me nuts. It's a fabulous song that for some reason, nobody performs anymore. Barbra starts it gorgeously, then mid-song wails it to death (from "and the thought is this, dear") I prefer her classic "It Had To Be You" from the same 'concert' sequence in COLOR ME BARBRA.
And I love the underrated SIMPLY STREISAND, where "Lover Man" , and the gorgeous "When Sunny Gets Blue" are featured. It's not a perfect album, concluding as it does with the unintentionally campy-awful "Stout-Hearted Men".
ABSOLUTELY agree, Tulita! Primo Babs! Those first 2 notes of C'est Si Bon! Yikes, who could actually "think" of that amazing jazz riff?
Being a pianist myself, the arrangement and the piano riffs drive me CARAAAAAAZY! Good crazy. Her "musicality" is still unmatched IMHO. No one has the voice timbre, the control, the "personality" the innate story-telling ability of Babs.
