Holy crap, that sounds like so much fun. I wish I could go, but alas, I am stuck in Delaware with nothing but the rain.
Both nights are soldout
I was all set and ready to be a big geek and go to both.
they said they're bringing it back in November but...ulgh.
Anyone have an extra ticket?
They said cancellation tickets are highly unlikely, but...maybe someone there will have an extra ticket? I can be one of those beggars outside. And maybe if I look really sad the ppl will take pity on me...
Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be BUUNNNIIIIIIESS!!!!
Sounds like a blast. SO jealous.
Oh. Ma. Gawd.
They should include the song from the final season in which Anya sings, "I'll be his misses..."
aww...I wish I could do! That would be so much fun. I was just listening to the musical episode for the bazillionth time on my ipod on the way home from work.
Yaay for persistance!
They kept telling everyone it's soldout, totally, and people kept leaving, but I kept sticking around and right before it started, they gave 4 tickets out and I got one! There were def some more empty seats still...oh well.
I have no clue how long people were lined up for but there was one hell of a line to get in. Yaay for Buffy freaks. Some people in Buffy shirts, some dressed up "vampiry", someone totally dressed up as Spike...it was awesome. But considering how long people were lined up for...it was a big movie screen, it's not like there was a bad seat. I got a front row seat on the aisle on the left. Hehehe.
So let's see. The host dude was named Travers. (Trevers?)
First he had people act out some Buffy. We watched the heartbreaking scene in Innocence where Angelus gave Buffy the brushoff after having sex. Then they turned off the volume and had the words on the screen. The Spike guy was the first one to act it out.
But then the 2 other pairs had female Angels and male Buffys. The second Buffy in particular was a great--never realized how much of a total drama queen Buffy was being. Hehe.
Then we voted on the 2 best Buffy and Angels and they won a prize.
Then 3 girls did a Cordelia line reading from The Wish, and we voted for the best there.
Then 2 girls and a guy did an Anya line reading...the one that she ended with saying "take your clothes off now." The guy whooped their ass. His prize was to be in a bunny costume and to hop around the stage when Anya sung about bunnies.
Then Trevers went through the thick old book(hehe) "How to do the Buffy sing along." Like the Sound of Music sing along I went to, we had a goody bag of props. The best of course are those big noise-making poppers. We were supposed to let those go at the very end of "Under Your Spell," when Tara doesn't finish the sentence.
We had kazoos to play during Buffy's "heaven" note in "Give Me Something To Sing About."
Then he said these kind of happen anyway, but we were supposed to scream "Shut up Dawn" everytime she came on the screen, and scream "No" during her song.
And help make bunny motions during Bunnies.
And he gave out a streamer or 2 the audience and at the very end of "Walk Through the Fire" they were gonna throw them up and whoever caught it would throw it to create our own fire. It worked really well actually.
Okay, then he started it. Yaay. We cheered everyone in the intros, though most people booed Dawn.
He said "Going Through the Motions" is the best b/c everyone sings really loud and it sets the tone for the night, and it was definitely true. So awesome. My voice was actually in pretty good shape.
We had special fun on particular lines--"how can I repay, whatever"--stuff like that. And we made some fun motions if we felt like it. He said we could stand, make motions, dance, whatever we want.
Another fun line was "it could be witches." We cheered after every song, and after that line and such.
Ooh, so captions was on the whole episode, and I never knew what Giles was saying before "I've Got A Theory." It's really funny!
"Anya" made a great bunny, doing silly dancing. "I died twice"--another fun line.
He gave out suits to the front row so they ran on the stage during "They Got the Mustard Out." A lot of extended our arms to pose for that one.
And yeah, some oohing during the end of Under Your Spell, and the poppers worked great.
Then there was a lot of dancing during "I'll Never Tell." Some people had partners. I just got up and did Anya's solo dance, then I kicked my feet in my seat. Hehe.
We made sure to loudly sing "The Parking Ticket," especially the end. The second row was given underwear that they stood up and waved around.
And OMG "Rest in Peace" for me was the funnest song to sing. I kind of it expected it to get louder and more excited during the chorus for everyone, it didn't seem to as much as I expected. Still, so great to be singing and then scream out "Let me rest in peace!" Hehe. And I still love James' face as he starts to sing.
A lot of shut up Dawn, but a huge applause for Sweet....asking him to take her away.
"Standing" was fun but sad. The reprise worked well...more people sang Giles part, but enough people including me sang Tara's part so it worked.
"Walk Through the Fire" was awesome, though hardly anyone sang Sweet's part. "I think this line's mostly filler." Another fun one.
We said some lines along too. "Killing me won't help"--stuff like that. Had fun backing up "Something to Sing About" and did some more in-my-seat dancing when Buffy was gonna combust.
"Bugger this." HA.
Lots of cheering during the kiss at the end...which I don't know, maybe people really love Spike and saw it from his perspective? I mean..."this isn't real, but I just wanna feel"--it's...I dunno, not something to cheer about in my opinion. Unless you're just happy for Spike, but still she's giving him nothing. I don't know.
So then we had a brief intermission. then as an added bonus, they showed the unaired half-hour Buffy production pilot, with bad Willow! I mean I think you can watch it by..other means, but it was my first time seeing it. Wow. Obviously, bad production value. The "dusting" of the vamp was particualrly amusing, as he slowly kind of turned to chalk, then disappeared?
I love Alyson Hannigan. This chick just...no. She looked older than everyone and it was weird. Xander was a tad cooler, carrying around a skateboard...they did away with that when they saw how much Nicky couldn't stay on the skateboard. Giles had some fun hair. the library had 2 levels, and a weird staircase.
Buffy went a bit more into what happened, how her life changed, mentioned her old watcher, etc.
The story started similar, with Darla. Buffy went to the Bronze, but Xander told her Willow was on the date with the dude, and Buffy made Xander tell her how badly he was dressed, so she ran to save her, which was what the episode was about, and then they had the conclusion. Very cool to see, especially in that context.
Last they announced the winner of the trivia contest. They put a trivia sheet in our bags to fill out. There were 7 questions--pretty hard. I got 3 right. Here are the questions, you guys can take a stab at it (but don't look it up online, that obviously takes the point away, as we couldn't do that there)
1. What musical did Hinton Battle first star in? (Gee I wonder how I got this one right...)
2. Name one song Giles sings in the series before the musical episode.
3. "Protect the cullers and tame the doughnut" (something like that) is a reference to what movie?
4. In what episode do we first learn about Anya's fear of bunnies?
5. What singer was supposed to sing for Sarah in the episode before she agreed to do it herself?
6. In what season seven episode does Anya sing a song that's supposed to have been a flashback to this episode?
7. Who is the one character to be in the original unaired production pilot AND the final episode of Angel?
Good luck!
I honestly would go back if it didn't mean trying so hard to get a ticket. But I'm def going back in November. Singer, you're coming with me :-P In fact, we should have a BWW gathering. Maybe have our Buffy party Saturday before then go or something. it's lots of fun!
Thank you so much for posting about this!

If I lived there Norn- Id soooo go with you.
Aww sorry N There was someone there in a Spelling Bee shirt...I was wondering if it might have been you. Glad I didn't ask.
Yeah, we'll totally have a BWW group there in November
OOh, I wanna gooo!!!!
And come on, of course people are going to cheer the Buffy/Spike kiss!!! Who cares about the subtext? It's...a KISS! A hot kiss!!! pfft, I cheered when I first saw the episode. Call me shallow, but come on...it's hot.
Shallow :-P
Eh, as long as people don't cheer a Buffy/Riley kiss, I guess it's all good.

ooh i think its romantic...& i think (@ that time, @ least) Buffy was lying to herself.
That sounds like so much fun! I wish I could have been there. Thanks for the review. The telling off Dawn thing would have been my favorite, since she is so annoying.
This needs to be done in Toronto.
That sounds awesome! I listen to that CD WAY more often than I should
I don't know n. I guess that's a debate for another time though.
MissElphie, like the sound of music singalong, it's a tour. This was the first one they did in NYC, but so far they started in Boston, and went to Austin and Pittsburgh. They may very well go to Toronto. Keep an eye out.
ooh! Thanks so much! Do they havea website or anything I can check out?
Not that I know of
Oh my god I wanna go. But I live all the way in Seattle.
Where are they showing it?
