BWW First Annual In/Out List

As the year 2004 rapidly comes to an end, let's reflect back on BWW over the past year and give our personal lists of what's in and out for 2005.

Mine:

Out; "I've become a legend" threads
Screen names that incorporate any refrence to Wicked
Citing the constitutional right to free speech
Multiple BWW identities and personas

In; Backing up your review of a show with intelligent statements that do not include the word Awesome
Starting threads or making posts that have some meaning or actually amuse others

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

OUT:
The word "random"
Attacking other posters for your own amusement

IN:
Appreciating shows and performers of every age, not just those that/who have been on the New York stage from the year 2000 and beyond (and if you don't know about it, look it up - this is the internet!).

Out: Using the off topic board as a chat room.
Out: Starting a thread to post your review/opinion/memorial tribute when there is already one started just so you can have your name in the "started by" box.

In: Speling, gramer and! puchuashin!
In: Discussing theatre that is NOT musical.
PEACE.

In: Assuming everyone here is an intellegent and rational person. Until they prove you wrong. Then they are fair game!

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

Hey Rathnait, did you know non-random is a word? So instead of saying "the 'r' word" from now on I'll say, not non-random!

For example- "The body suits in Cats are so not non-random!"
What is it about Lucy?? I know she's a bitch, and yet I want to be her...

Out; Using this site as group therapy

Offering advice on things you know nothing of outside of a Google search (ie "I'm a 13 year old living in Pigeontit, TN who has never been out of Pigeontit and never met anyone who has but, I can give you advice on which program to take at NYU because I looked up NYU on Google)

"Out: Using the off topic board as a chat room."

Seriously. If the rest of us weren't at/aren't going to your next gathering, it's really quite boring to read entire threads between 4 people about it. I'm sure you would feel the same. Also, constant referencing to outside gatherings on any thread - again, boring to the rest of us/them who weren't there. I hang out with other BWW people, but I don't feel the need to discuss it with them on the board. What's the point? To make those from Idaho feel left out? To prove how BWW popular you are? I don't get it.

What if you realize your screen name is "out", but too many people know you as it to change?
JOHN LITHGOW I just realized, your last name is Butz! Both "Norbert" AND "Butz" are in your name! You must have gotten picked on a lot as a child!

Well, I have some simple solutions for you.

1)Don't read those threads. They are limited to one or two and you really have no need to view them if you don't want to hear about it.

2)When it comes to "referencing outside gatherings", nobody here is going to limit what they say here just so you don't feel left out. If you want to go hang out with people, than do it and feel free to write a novel about it. It doesn't mean anyone is going to read it or even like it, but nobody is going to stop you.

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

I don't feel left out. Just bored.

This is a public message board - private conversations should be just that - private. That's all I'm (and apparently Sueleen is) saying.

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

Again, simple solution - Read different threads. You know good and well which threads certain people talk about their lives and getting together with friends. Don't expect a pity party because you're not at these gatherings.

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

You are completely misreading me, Matt. Pity party? Hardly. I'm close to 20 years older than you and have my own solid social life which yes, sometimes includes BWW people. I understand someone younger would read that differently. It's not about that. Anyway, I'm now bored with THIS conversation and we've jacked the thread. re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

Interesting, because I've heard you complain many times about not being involved in things that go on off the board so I'm NOT misreading you. Age has nothing to do with it. And someone 20 years older than I am should also know better than to do certain things. And I think we both know what I'm talking about.

Now there's no need to start a fight here. I'm just saying that your problem with conversations are isolated to very few places so you can easily steer clear of them and have no more problems.

Out: Starting threads about how bored you are. Only the boring are bored.

In: Being real.
Out: Being phoney, including threads that are nothing but complimenting each other about everything from successful farts to meeting a chorus member at a stage door.

In: Developing real friendships in the real world.
Out: Having a 90 second interaction with a celebrity outside a theater and deciding at that moment that "they are the nicest person in the whole world" and forever after writing posts that imply you know them and you're friends.

In: Watching a show and loving a show.
Out: Feeling as if to prove your love of a show you have to see it dozens of times and memorizing the understudy/swing lists in Playbill and spending the rest of your life wishing you could see yet another three named performer go on as the fourth flying monkey from the left but that was the one night you couldn't do the lottery because you had a stupid paper due the next day. And ESPECIALLY wishing you could have been there that night when somebody dropped something onstage and your other obsessed friends tell you you should have seen it. It was hysterical!

In: Buying a ticket and seeing a performance.
Out: Worrying about whether or not a vacation is planned by a performer when you're supposed to see the show because your life will be ruined if you miss him or her.

re: BWW First Annual In/Out List

Matt, I complained ONCE. A long time ago, for not knowing about a gathering. That's all. And I wouldn't have known about it if it hadn't then been discussed here.

And, not to make too fine a point, but I have, in this short period of time, received a number of pm's thanking me for my post. Again, it's not about feeling "left out." Okay, enough jacking of this thread, which is actually quite a fun one.

Sure sounds like complaining to me.

Get over it.

And with that, I'm going out in the real world with some real friends. I'll tell you guys about it later.
