I was turned down for a job today via e-mail. Generally, this would be unprofessional. However I set up my interview via e-mail as well.

I found it rude for them not to call me and tell me personally. Then again, we never talked on the phone in the first place, so they probably found it fine to send me the e-mail.

What do you think about this? Was this unprofessional behavior? Am I taking my bitterness out on this one detail?

I've never used the off-topic board here before, so I hope this isn't that far out of the "off-topic" relm, Or a repeated thread.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert

Since you set up the interview via e-mail, this seems to me an appropriate method to advise you as to the outcome.

usually when you don't get a job, you are never informed at all. You just never recieve that "you're hired" phone call and after a few weeks you can surmise someone else was hired.

I think you were lucky to get an actual response in any form.
