I'm looking for a good ballad to sing for my voice class. I'm a mezzo soprano. My range is low E to high G (higher or lower depending on the song). My signature ballads have always been Someone Like You and Once Upon a Dream from Jekyll and Hyde and I want to get off of using them for everything. I am also looking for a relatively fast song also. I need 3 for the semester so I'm looking for a ballad, a fast one, and I'm also doing When You've Got It, Flaunt It for my medium speed one. If anyone has ideas please let me know. Thanks!

Ok...go to musicals.net and look on the audition forum. In the third post on the sticky, there's a list of songs for all vocal ranges. There are mezzo ballads on that list.

look at some of the earlier volumes of the Musical Theatre Anthology books-- even though many people use them they're still dead on for vocal parts... and if you find a song that's too overdone, research the character from the show and look at some of their other songs!

Still Hurting from L5Y is also good. It's actually not that pianistically hard (I can play it).
