'Banned in Boston'

I just read about this new book, Banned in Boston: The Watch and Ward Society's Crusade Against Books, Burlesque and The Social Evil by Neil Miller. Just the synopsis at the link made me think how the past might inform us about the present moment, when ideas and intelligence are mocked by the very people who will most benefit by a populace not exposed to either. Also, I'm looking forward to reading of T.S. "Cats" Eliot's and John F. "Jackie: An American Life" Kennedy's forays to the burlesque houses.

Also, 21 years ago, I was one of the people Neil Miller found in his book,In Search of Gay America: Women and Men in a Time of Change, but I won't say which one!
