Just came back from a press screening of "Bedtime Stories" and I have to say, I really enjoyed the film. Sometimes Adam Sandler movies really can be annoying, but this one is funny and really is for the whole family. I have to say Russell Brand steals some of the scenes in it and actually doesn't come off as creepy.
Adam Shankman does a very nice job directing and even adds a little musical shout-out written by Marc Shaiman.
I see this doing extremely well at the box office, and must say that I will recommend this to many people.
Has anyone else seen it?
I must admit that "Inkstorm" looks to be the better of the two movies, the clip for Bedtime makes it look really cheesey

Offensive to children and grown-ups everywhere. This movie was a nasty mess of pandering BS and unearned sentiment, with two or three genuinely funny moments thrown in just to keep you off balance.
I'm a big fan of imaginative movies geared towards kids, but this was just insulting. Worse than Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium!

I saw it with a friend, and I thought it was stupid but entertaining. There were a few parts that seemed really funny-- I actually thought Russell Brand was very funny, especially when he talked about smearing ketchup on his face-- and I really liked the *non-racist* fantasy sequences, the girls who randomly did the hokey-pokey, and the stupid cell phone ring-tone. Richard Griffiths was brilliant, and Guy Pearce was wonderfully hateful. Also, I loved the little Broadway medley, spotting all of the characters.
But so much of the movie was SO. FORCED. About eighty-five percent of the jokes fell flat. The romance was painfully forced as well. I didn't understand what was up with the guinea pig and its eyes. Adam Sandler was... unfunny. The plot made it impossible to suspend my disbelief. I felt like it could have been a pretty good movie if it... wasn't Adam Sandler.

Guy Pearce was great. Keri Russell had two levels - bitchy and googly-eyed.

It's racist too?
Well, then, I will certainly not watch it.
Rob Schneider has a few cameos as a Native American. They're not funny. (Uh, the cameos... not Native Americans...)
Oh. I thought this was going to be about actual bedtime stories, and I was coming in to rhapsodise about some of my favourite audi books and plays-on-CD. I don't think you can beat Neil Gaiman reading The Graveyard Book for a bedtime story, but Sam West reading Peter Pan has to come pretty close.
I'd quite like Tom Hiddleston to read me a bedtime story. I'd just really like to have a slumber party with him...
I remember the time I read that book about the Ebola virus before going to bed... I had sweet dreams that night...dreams about liquefying monkeys, zombies vomiting blood, and (bizarrely) Wilbur Robinson.
"I'd quite like Tom Hiddleston to read me a bedtime story. I'd just really like to have a slumber party with him..."
Or he could stand at the side of the bed and rant at you as though you were Ivanov.
I don't care what he says, I just dig his voice. There's a reason I have Othello on my iPod y'know, and it's not *just* because handkerchief drama makes for the best tragedy.

Rob Schneider is actually part Filipino. Does that make it any better?
