Where do you like to get potato pancakes?

I get them at the Polish Tea Room but sometimes they are too greasy.

Best ones I have had are at Odessa Restaurant near Tompkins Square Park.

And you?

Wow, thanks, Corine 2.

I like Firebird, it's jazzy.

Saw Sally Mayes there once and she was excellent...

They don't call them latkes? Or is that just a Jewish thing?

I love Firebird more for the decor. It is so romantic.
They did the most glorious Vip party for the Drama Desk awards a few years ago, I am still speechless from the detail! They made a great impression. They know how to throw a party, but I SUPERVISED! re: Best Potato Pancakes in Manhattan?
It is a sexy place. Maybe Benji will do it next year!

Yes, Firebird is snazzy as hell, with a sort of old Russian opulence about it.

Pluse they serve and sell that Kousmichoff tea:

"created in 1867 at St. Petersbourg...we were one of the GREATEST ANCIENT RUSSIAN TEA FIRM, purveyor by special appearance to the Tsars until the Revolution in 1917... Established in France since 1920, we remain THE ONLY GENUINE RUSSIAN TEA FIRM..."

I like the Prince Vladimir tea...

But I digress!

Back to latkes and KelRel's BWW Potato Pancake Party...

They also make wonderful Bellini's and Honey Vodka which they invented.
It is romantic!
Jose, you still have time to plan that event. re: Best Potato Pancakes in Manhattan? Updated On: 9/29/05 at 01:14 PM

nomdeplume I would be honored to make you potato pancakes, you just have to make the trip down to Kentucky.

Damn.

The Lear Jet's in the shop or I'd be right down, KelRel.

Anyone have a restaurant to share?

Or a secret recipe to post on the Board?

I absolutely love potato pancakes! I can eat a lot with sour cream and/or apple sauce.

If you are willing to drive two hours to Hartford, I make wonderful potato pancakes by hand!No food processors used here as I grate them with an old fashioned hand grater. They are thin and crispy and served with applesauce.

Anybody know a good Midtown Jewish deli with potato pancakes?

I can't imagine any deli could be good.
I don't seek PP as they are so bad for you.
If I don't have Mom's or Firebird I usually skip it.
I would rather eat Sushi.
My carbs!

How much are the potato pancakes at Firebird? All you need is some potatoes and a grater.

I am sure they are pricey. But at Firebird it is more about the CAVIAR.
I love caviar more than potatoe pancakes. At Firebird they are also not like Mamma's pp. It is a blini, which is different.
There was just an article about fried foods and said it causes cancer. So, skip the PP and have the caviar instead.
