There are some great programs on the West part of the country including Cal State Fullterton and my current program at the University of Arizona. I mainly looked on the east coast, too, but I know there are programs in a lot of the UC schools that are pretty good programs. Good luck! If you have any questions about UofA feel free to PM me.

Cheers,

Christopher

The west coast is lacking in real good MT programs. UCLA is perhaps the best of the lot. But I wouldn't go as far as to recommend it.

there is no "best school". every school is different and caters to different student's needs. what kind of school do you want? one that specializes in dance? acting? music?

by using the phrase "best" you are eliminating unbiased views.

I was wondering about good school in the west too since it looks like that's where I'm most likely going to school. I personally just want to hear what schools have good programs in general, not looking in a particular area.

BFA programs are kind dying out and MFAs are growing. Don't limit yourself to just BFA programs, but go for the program you feel comfortable with. CalSt Fullerton is my favorite. They have a really strong musical theater program. UC Irvine also has a good program. UCLA is more film, but still decent. The UCs are big universities, so these programs are going to be bigger and more competitive once you get in. PCPA is a conservatory on the central coast of CA. It is 2 yrs and you get a certificate and you can earn your AA degree which will transfer to a 4 yr college. The college is joined with the profesional theater in the area and students do shows along with the profesionals. It's a very affordable school. I don't go to PCPA, I know a lot of people who went. I have heard nice things about San Francisco St. Oregon has good schools. Do some research and evaluate your situation. Look at location, program, curriculum. Figure out what level you are because if you attend UC Irvine and have little performance or dance experience, you might get swept into the background. Visit the campuses as well because you might like the school on paper but feel different when your on caampus.
