I believe that Beyonce is jealous. She is supposed to be the star of the movie, when in reality it is turning out that Jennifer Hudson is the star.

All Beyonce has to do is look the other way while Jennifer is in any room with her, and someone's going to say she's ignoring Miss Hudson.

People get really crazy sometimes, and I don't envy Beyonce who would have to analyze every single one of her own eye blinks to make sure she wasn't doing something questionable as a symbol of disapproval.

I for one am glad she's not "pouring on the love" to the point of nausea. She has already stated in many interviews, before, during and after production that Jennifer is terrific to work with and an incredible talent. She's said that many times in recent months.

But apparently if they're not holding hands and skipping, somebody's going to drum up a story that they are "distanced" from each other.

Wow.

FYI, I too heard (via friends who were THERE) Beyonce was "tearful" the first time she saw the final film... but it was because this movie had exceeded all her expectations of what it would be... NOT because Jennifer was upstaging her. She was overwhelmingly proud to be a part of such an amazing film. It was everything she'd hoped for, and then some.

Yet somebody in the media or with a blog saw the tears, put two and two together and got FIVE, so it seems.

I agree, Twelve. I mean, if Beyonce thought that she was going to be the "star" of the film, all she needed to do was read the script to know that Effie is the one that people pull for. Also, to my knowledge, she was already a fan of the musical, so AGAIN she should know that Effie has the numbers that make people applaud and whatnot.

Exactly, spider... yet she didn't pursue getting the role of Effie. She knew she was perfect for Deena and that the role was a great one, even if it doesn't get the showstopping moments. She worked hard to stretch herself as an actress, and she did just that. So she has already "won," regardless of what happens in awards season.

I just hope that the gossip doesn't end up souring this experience for her. I think she's wiser than that, plus she's faced similar gossip before as part of Destiny's Child. This should be familiar territory for her...

...sadly.

There does really seem to be some sort of push to keep painting Beyonce as the bad guy whenever this movie is concerned. This sort of chatter has been going on since the second all the stars of the movie were announced.

What's much more noteworthy to me is that, even if two aren't all that enamored of each other, both young women have had nothing but praise for the other when speaking publicly. Whatever their experience, they've both done nothing but conduct themselves professionally, and I really wish people would just lay off, because I'd hate to see this stuff overshadow the fact that both of these girls turned in fine performances in the film.

Hm, I do not believe it. I am very excited for the movie, though. I am also excited to see Jennifer Hudson in her film debut! She was always one of my favorites on American Idol and she had a great voice. I am also very excited for Beyonce because this seems like a really good role for her. I don't know much about the other girl, just that she is a broadway alumini, so I am also very excited to see her.(Sorry I keep refering to her as...well...HER but I cannot remember her name.
