It is a Johnny Cash song.

I just find it a amusing that someone would use "bad" when it can mean both tough and terrible.

Several artists (including Cash) have recorded the song over the years, but the original version was done by Jimmy Dean. It was an early 60s hit. Dean won a Grammy for it.

Your right - for some reason I thought Cash had written the lyrics (and some sites say that he has).

I was only familiar with Cash's version of the song...

i've never heard a cash version of it and love the original jimmy dean version.
