"That place out yonder needs more men like you/who shoot straight/and talk straight/and enjoy a good brew/Big John!"
I can't help laughing!!
I've always wanted to go 'out yonder'. If only I could afford it.
"Big Bad John".
That kind of says it all.
Obviously, neither one of you are actually old enough to remember this song. I am and I do.
It is a Johnny Cash song.
I just find it a amusing that someone would use "bad" when it can mean both tough and terrible.

Several artists (including Cash) have recorded the song over the years, but the original version was done by Jimmy Dean. It was an early 60s hit. Dean won a Grammy for it.

Correct Jbarafan! Most kids today would never believe the "Sausage guy" was at one time, a big singing star.
Your right - for some reason I thought Cash had written the lyrics (and some sites say that he has).
I was only familiar with Cash's version of the song...
i've never heard a cash version of it and love the original jimmy dean version.
"...a crashing blow from a huge right hand sent a lousiana fella to the promised land."
