It will hurt a little. Just stay still, and get over it.

It really didn't hurt when I was like 14 years old. You hear the little gun thing click in and that was it, you hardly feel anything.

Well it is going to hurt a little, they are shooting metal through your ear, but its nothing you can't live with. I personally think the finger poke at the doctors office is way worse.

It feels more like a pinch than anything else...obviously, it isn't comfortable, but it's certainly not unbearable either. Good luck.

Umm...you're shooting two more holes in your head, IT'S SUPPOSED TO HURT!

Get them to do both ears at the same time. Then you won't back out of having the second one done. That's how they did mine...one girl on one side, another girl on the other, they counted to three, and my ears were pierced!

whatever you do, please go to a piercing studio and have it done with a hollow needle. dont have some sales associate do it at the mall with a gun.

Well, at least when they do it with a gun, if there are two folks working, you can get both ears done at the same time. It's not really painful, it's a VERY loud click right on your ear. It's scares you more than anything. And the second ear is more bothersome than the first because you are bracing for that click. Then in a few moments your ears will get very red, hot and will probably swell. It's uncomfortable, but not painful. Take very good care of the piercings and use the cleanser as often as they say. Infection is the worst! As for how long it will hurt, usually sleeping is the only time it's bothersome and the length of that depends on your healing time. It takes me forever to heal, so mine would hurt for weeks. When I had my upper ear pierced, it was still painful 7 months later. I have friends who have never had any discomfort after the first week. But when it's finally time to take out those original studs, get some good earrings. Don't put garbage in your ears from the $3 rack at Wal-mart.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

I just learned that they will not give me numbing for my ears! If you could give the pain 1 being the least thru 10 being the worst.... what would you give it... I am starting to get very excited! Again, thanks for all the help.

Once again, if you are going to whine, then don't do it.
It's not like they are shooting you with a gun in the head.
It's a tiny needle, for cripes sake.
Take your own GD ice and numb it yourself.

I LOVE watching that at the mall (Piercing Pagoda). My sister had hers done in the high school cafeteria.

When you go in - ask them to describe a Prince Albert for you. It is a type of piercing, and the explanation should help you put your fear of ear pain in perspective.

Sorry everyone if you think I am whining... that is the last thing I really want to do. It is just that I am not too good with the needle thing and I just want as much information as I can get so I feel more prepared and confident in the whole situation. I hope you will understand. Thank you to everyone who has given me such wonderful information. It really helps.

Jersey, on a 1 to 10 scale, I would say about a 2-3. It really is more about the loud click. And sure, it hurts for a little bit after, but honestly, it's not bad. And after, it's more of a dull ache than any kind of shooting pain. I would say that you should take tylenol or advil before going, but that will thin the blood and make you more likely to bleed. Think of it this way, if it was THAT bad, would people keep doing it?
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
