Sullivan was insufferable as always. I could only bear his hot-headed rant when he took on Palin.
But his own brand of I'm-just-a-gay-bear-lovin'-Canadian-who-just-wants-to-worship-my-God-and-have-strong-security-as-long-as-it's-not-somebody-who-won't-let-me-get-hitched "conservatism" really bores me to tears. He is so self-righteous, so instantly finger-wagging toward anyone who doesn't share his supposedly more pragmatic than anybody else's worldview.
I remember when he finally wrote a pouty, wounded, "shocked" piece for TIME attacking a former idol, George W. Bush -- his startling editorial thesis was offered up as a singular epiphany: "He's NOT a uniter, he's a DIVIDER!" -- after skewering everyone for years who didn't support him. He is chronically late with every pith-free revelation, and then tries to browbeat anyone in earshot by explaining why it's somehow morally and intellectually superior to take 5 times longer to figure out what we've all known since day one.
