Bill Moyers’ new documentary, BUYING THE WAR, airs tonight on PBS at 9pm

Moyers and producer Kathleen Hughes use alarming evidence and an array of respected journalists to make the case that, in the rage that followed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the media abandoned their role as watchdog and became a lapdog instead.

Exhibit A — the first event recalled in this report — is a news conference by President Bush on March 6, 2003, which Moyers says is two weeks before Bush “will order America to war.” The press conference was a sham, with Bush calling only on “friendly” reporters who’d ask friendly questions. The corker was this scorching investigative query: “Mr. President, how is your faith guiding you?”

it was very good, & of course Judy Miller & Tom Friedman, two main players in selling the war, refused to appear.

Tim Russert & Peter Beinart were on, & Moyers completley shamed Russert, who whined, "i'm a blue-collar guyyyyyy!", either as a defense or excuse to charges that Cheney had played him (keep in mind we learned in the LIBBY trial that Russert, contrary to all journalistic standards, considers everything OFF the record, unless otherwise stated!)

Peter Beinart was unintentionally funny when he so aggressivley kept changing the subject in response to Moyers questions...Moyers was asking him if it wsnt irresponsible to have presented himself as an expert on the Middle East throught the run-up to the war, & Beinart kept twisting it into, "Do i wish that more people got their news from reading rather than watching tv? ABSOLUTLEY!!!"

Watch it HERE

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali
