If this was the best they could do after 15 months, maybe it is time to pull the plug after this season. I did not think it was all that great but that is just my opinion.

I was thinking that the first episode was the beginning of some very long and interesting story arcs.

I was also interested in seeing that the Ukranian/Russian in the woods subplot wasn't just forgotten.

I give it a 7/5 out of 10. You liked it more . Great . Maybe it will improve as far as I am concerned.

Interesting, I expected to be underwhelmed, but I thought it was a great episode, a promising return that portends good things. The writing hit many of the Chase trademarks: quirky dysfunctional family details and a sea of ineffable feelings and scenes of aborted or non-communication. The Melfi stuff (no spoilers, the show does repeat all week) was really compelling, despite the cheap effect of a soapy dream. And I loved the bear, and how its recurring presence was paid off. And just when the show seemed to be nothing but domestic drama, the restaurant sequence -- and its startling use of brief violence -- reminded us of the cavalier way these egocentric people play with life/death. It all grabbed me.

Also, it was some of Bracco's strongest work, I felt. Did anyone else think Falco looked a bit haggered?

It is the first show. They are introducing the new characters. It will get going. I can't believe Tony put a hit out on Furio.....

i think Carmella has every right to look haggard... Also, the whole bear thing with AJ screaming, "Mommy!" was a riot! but still, the Atlantic City climax was shocking...
