Posted: 1/10/05 at 4:21pmI've only been blocked by one person, to my knowledge. (BG2) I think it's immature to shut people out. We all have a right to be here and some of the annyoning Wickedites are actually quite amusing. Then there's the issue of grudges- this is the INTERNET, there's no reason to make a mountain out of a molehill. Also, if you block a person you never give them the oppertunity to apologize and work things out. There was a time when I was certain a group of people would block me and we'd never interact again (and let the resentment build up) but they didn't and things have since worked out and some of those people are now my favorite posters.

Posted: 1/10/05 at 5:07pmI haven't blocked anyone. Some people are annoying, but watching the responses is hilarious. I, too, would hate to miss something.

I currently have no one on my block list although I'd rather not read certain posts because they p*ss me off too much.
QM - So are you saying I'm almost there?
I've never used the block feature; I can just easily ignore stupid posts and stupid PMs. I think blocking someone is either useful or silly depending on why you're doing it. There are some posts which are just not worth reading -- RodneyK's "I hope you die in a car crash tonight" drivel is an example. I can very easily scroll past that, but hey, if someone prefers to to use the block feature and save them the aggravation, then I say go for it. But if people use the block feature because their blood pressure go up every time someone has an opposing opinion, that's pretty silly.

I just don't understand the purpose of blocking. It seems like some form of pathetic self-empowerment to me. I don't like you, therefore you don't exist? Where would the discussions go? Granted, some people get on here just to be inflammatory. So, don't read their posts. But, to block people out completely seems like putting blinders on. It may save you some annoyance here and there, but ultimately, it's like adding extra cowardice onto a universe (message boards) that abound with cowards who feel empowered by the fact that they can say anything behind an anonymous moniker and cute picture.
Um, yeah...so, I'm not in favor of the blocking. That is all.

Does anyone know if B.B. Wolf still posts here?

Totally agreed, BB. I also hate people who go, "::insert name here::, the block feature is quite useful, isn't it?" It's the virtual equivalent of having someone say, "You can't get me cuz I'm standing behind my mom!" or respond to every negative post with "I'm rubber, you're glue..."
Grow up.

Posted: 1/11/05 at 2:56pmI had a great thread, deleted today in fact, where I kept talking about someone who had supposedly blocked me. Well apparently the block was only a threat, because she kept responding. Just Can't Understand New Tempers around here.
