It's an LG 52 inch LCD set, 3D and streaming capable, lovely. The one drawback is that it sometimes seems to "flash" during low-light level scenes -- it gets slightly brighter, then slightly darker, then back and forth. It got distracting during GAME OF THRONES, but I don't recall it being an issue during other films.

I've wondered sometimes about the differences in settings from set to set, no two people seem to have them set the same way. I remember spending an afternoon showing a friend that THE RED SHOES looked so terrible on his TV not because of an inept transfer or defective disc but because he had the color settings on his TV all messed up.

And the 3D stuff works really well on our TV. CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON rocked.

Mine is "old" before 3D, but it's a great set. I know the black levels on LCD sets have improved greatly. I wonder if that "flashing" is doing (or attempting to do) some sort of auto-adjustment during darker scenes. That might explain why darker transfers don't drive you as batty as they do me.

I'm sure my next set will have 3D capabilities (most of them do nowadays), and I look forward to seeing "The Creature" from that box set in all its '50s 3D glory!
