I can't stand the man's views on just about everything - but it should be noted here that a brain tumor can affect all other senses - hearing, sight, touch, smell. It also can cause seizures - including the 'mild' ones that often go undetected. It's entirely possible (and even probable) that one or two of these symptoms resulted in his hitting that pedestrian and not realizing it.

Well, here's his side of the story.
Frankly, I don't buy it - but that's just me.

I do. Partly because of an unending desire to try to find a bit of good in everyone and part (the bigger part) because of experience with a brain cancer patient.
My niece was born (it is assumed she was born with it) with a brain tumor that became large enough to affect her motor skills and memory just before her 6th birthday. The physical changes included holding her left arm close to her side and rarely ever using her left hand. Her left foot also turned in with each step. The memory losses were more profound. I took her out to do her Christmas shopping about 3 weeks before the tumor was discovered. We spent the morning shopping and one of the last items she purchased was a pair of candle holders for her mother. We stopped for lunch and I started going over her shopping list to see what was left. She said "and I have to get something for Mom". I started laughing at her and asked her how many presents was she going to get for her mom. It soon became apparent that she was being perfectly honest - she had no memory of the last half hour of our shopping. These patches of (my words) 'walking blackouts' came more and more often until her surgery.
You just can't assume anything when it comes to the brain and how it works.
