Yeah, I should have amended what I said with a big fat "for now". No one's paying attention, but manufactureres are starting to put accessible tracking numbers on people computers, too.
But while everyone can have a blog, I've found that for the most part, if yours is ****ty only a few friends will pay attention to it. I mean, LJ is filled with grammar-challenged emo brats, but I've never looked for more than 5 or so (accidental) seconds at their journals. The users who attract a lot of attention are either famous in some other way- like Neil Gaiman or Warren Ellis- or just really witty and fun to read every day.
To apply this back to politics, if all you can do is repeat FOX News talking points, people will keep watching FOX News rather than read your blog. If you actually do original research, though, and find something new and innovative to say, you'll get attention. It's not perfect or anything (as immensely stupid gossip blogs demonstrate), but it's a lot more dynamic and faster to self-correct than most "traditional" forms of publication and broadcasting.

Channel 11 just announced that Woodward is "fighting for his life"
Don't know whether that's hyperbole.
