Sometimes, yes...but when the woman belts those high notes, I'd take her over Idina or any of her clones any day.

It's her belt that bothers me though. Admittedly not all the time, but sometimes it just seems so uncalled for. Like at the end of Anytime (I Am There), for example.

Her end of Anytime ( I am There) is brilliant. THe ears adjust, or at least mine did, after repeat listenings.

That particular belt wasn't strident, dear. It was downright shocking 
And my ears haven't adjusted to the end of Anytime. Especially after hearing Lauren Kennedy sing it last year.

lol. I think Ann Hampton has a wonderful voice. Certainly it's capable of more colors than Liz, but it's hard not to be wowed by that little Lizzie.

Just bumping this to point out that I am a total dimwit. It wasn't Lauren Kennedy I saw in the London Elegies, but Lauren Ward.

Well if you ever get the chance to hear her sing Anytime, you'll understand why I am no longer so keen on Ms Carmello's version. I started crying around "I'll be there on the baseball field, though I'm well concealed I'll be out there cheering." and didn't stop. It was a truly beautiful rendition.
