I dont like Madonna. And where did she get the idea to study Kabbalah and change her name to Esther?

I love how Madonna is so incredibly famous and provocative that people always feel the need to bash her in threads. It just proves our point.

I have loved Madonna since her very first album. But, my favorite album is Ray of Light.

And, she didn't start studying Kabbalah as some kind of a fad. As usual, some people have discovered it because of her.

She never changed her freakin name to Esther! For crying out loud, I wish the media and some people would get this right. It's just part of the religion and used only for the religion.

"I love how Madonna is so incredibly famous and provocative that people always feel the need to bash her in threads. It just proves our point."

We could also substitute the name Britney for Madonna in that paragraph.

I'll add my voice to the chorus and mention my deep love for Madonna. I just spent a good hour re-living the re-Invention Tour through some bootleg clips. She rocks my world.

EDIT: Britney isn't provocative. She's just mildly annoying.

Except that Madonna has the quality of music and performing talent that Britney so sadly lacks. You could never replace Madonna with Britney. And when I said provocative, I wasn't speaking of skimpy outfits and bawdy dance moves--I was speaking of things that actual have made people think and challenge our cultural prejudices.

Let's remember what a crappy singer Madonna was when she was the age Britney is now. You can't compare them because Madonna has 20+ years of experience on Britney.

People talked about Madonna very similarly to how they talk about Britney now. She was also known for "skimpy outfits and bawdy dance moves," among other things. Am I the only person on this thread old enough to remember that?

listen--I remember quite clearly Madonna of 20 years ago. And, her voice has always been perfectly suited for pop music. The difference is that Britney lip syncs EVERYTHING where Madonna rarely ever has done that. Madonna's music also is much stronger writing--since the first album. And Madonna writes most everything she has ever sung.

And Britney has only ever been a wispy shadow of the thought and meaning that Madonna's music, videos, tours, etc. has provided in helping to shape the cultural landscape.

Hmmmm....couldn't disagree more. Madonna can barely sing now! You only think she can because you're comparing her current mediocre voice to the wimpy pitch-free singing of her early career.

And as far as lip-synching, Madonna lip-synched as much as anyone when she was dancing in concert as well. Reality check...you sing while you're dancing like that, and then get back to me on how you sound.

As far as changing the cultural landscape - again, she's had 20+ more years to do that.

Madonna actually can sing live and dance--it can be done, darlin. Especially when you are as in shape as she is.

And we shall disagree on Madonna's voice. We seem to disagree on quite a lot.

And, I am saying that in her first four albums (same as Brit has now), Madonna did more than Britney could ever have imagined.
