Not always.

What are you looking to study? That definitely makes a difference. They're also completely different schools.

Yeah I know there's alot of personal qualities in deciding which one to actually go to,
but I just meant in general-which is a higher profiled school between a college and a university.

Boston College (BC) is a very famous school, and I hear of it more than BU...

BC is also a very conservative (and preppy) school. A good friend of mine is currently in her freshman year and is a big liberal, and has had trouble fitting in.

BU is likely more moderate at the very least.

Boston, in general, is a fairly conservative city, so liberals/moderates need to be careful about where they choose to go.
How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Um, I live in Boston and I have to say that this is a pretty liberal city.
BC used to be a mostly Catholic college, but over the years it has diversified a lot. It’s a strong liberal arts and good sports college.
BU is in my opinion the better school. It has a very strong music and fine arts department and the courses all around seem more diverse. Everyone I know who goes to BU adores it.
BoCo (Boston Conservatory) is different from those too because it’s obviously a music conservatory. I’ve actually heard (and agree) that New England Conservatory in Boston is the stronger of the two conservatories, but BoCo is still an excellent school.

It really depends on what you’re looking for in a college. If you don’t want a strictly musical setting, I would go with BU. If you want a strong music program, than the only one I wouldn’t recommend is BC, but if you want just a strong liberal arts school, either BC or BU would be good.

Boston is MOST DEFINITELY not a conservative city.

In fact, good luck surviving in it if you're not liberal.

Its in Massachusetts, after all. And its the best city in the world :)

Boston is also most definitely not a CHEAP city... don't let that sway you too much considering college pretty much handles all the necessities, but just know.

I personally would rather be a homeless, penniless happy person in Boston than a rich, haughty, unhappy person in, well, basically any other city :)

Boston College is a university, but it couldn't change its name because there was already a Boston University...

BC and BU, education wise, are pretty similar, nationally BC is ranked higher than BU, but internationally BU is ranked much much higher than BC, so it really depends. Also, do you want to live on a traditional campus, or do you want to be in the heart of the city? Don't let the name fool you, Boston College is in Newton, MA...

BU has a great theatre and music program, and I really don't know about BC... so you just need to prioritize and figure out exactly what you want from your school...

I live in Boston as well and yes. it is VERY liberal. re: Bostons College vs. University vs. Conservatory But as far as conservatories go.. I go to BoCo and I don't agree with saying that NEC is better then Boco.. they are really VERY different. If you are looking for a musical theatre program, boco is definitely you're best bet. NEC doesn't even offer one. They have incredible instrumentalist and opera/vocal performance programs.
