This would be a shocker as the Scouts spent $$$$ in litigation to perpetuate discrimination!

I'm inclined to Follow the Money, too brdlwyr. The article seems to indicate that, on balance, there is more financial pressure to end the ban than maintain it.

If it does come to pass you'd have to give them credit for cutting their losses--large organizations typically have a great deal of trouble abandoning a path once they have invested large sums of $$$.

The BSA really took a public relations hit when they forced the Lesbian mom to quit her role as a Den Mother to her son's Cub Scout Troop. She got Randy Stephenson to commit to ending the ban once he takes over as head of the BSA later this year.

I'm always intersted in knowing what motivates (apparently) straight people to go the extra mile for GLB rights? Just a strong conviction re: right and wrong? Gay friends and/or relations?

I actually know Randy Stephenson through some family ties, but have no clear idea of what makes him tick on this issue.
