Britney and the Mr. are a BIG news story. I'm so angry and I'm not even sure where to aim it. I'm angry at the news media for doing what they do best...blurring the line between news and entertainment. I'm angry at the entertainment industry for nurturing relationships/marriage as entertainment with all the various sordid "find your perfect mate" shows. I'm insensed at a little tramp with too much money and too little class treating marriage like a big joke. Trust me... it ain't no joke...and that's a valid statement coming at it from opposite directions. It's no joke if you've ever been in a failed marriage and had to endure the trauma of its ending. And I'm sure that it is equally, if not more painful, to not be allowed to marry the person of your choice, in the first place.
Until this episode I've been fairly indifferent to Ms. Spears. I watched part of "The Fabulous Life of Britney Spears" on E! or VH1 or one of those stations and was fairly disgusted at the sheer excesses...but I figured, "what the hell, it's just stuff". But this latest nonsense is flat out offensive.
All I can think of is how having too much money can devalue everything. She "makes a mistake", calls her lawyer in the morning, throws money at the problem and it goes away. And hey, there's all this free publicity, too. Maybe its negative publicity, but WTF...still keeps her name in the headlines. Hell, it took me YEARS to unravel my unwise marriage. And like a couple others posted, some of the posters on this board aren't allowed to marry a person they've been with for many years. This is all so wrong.
