Just found this blurb and had to share it:
"The Mousketeer turned belly-baring warbler reveals on her Web site that she’s written a musical, “Hollywood,” which she also wants to direct. The movie “makes fun of the whole Hollywood scene” writes Spears, who makes this case for getting behind the camera: “When a woman directs, I think it just alters the entire feel of the movie, production or play in such a positive way.”
And in other news, Spears reveals that she just bought her new dog, Lucky, a new dresser and “baby chandelier” which will both be placed in Lucky’s room."

Well this is the OFF topic board and I just meant that when the Donna bashing was going on and on and on and on and ON, you didn't seem to mind because you agreed with what the bashers were saying.
You're a Britney fan, numerous others are not, so any discussion about her will incur a bit of bashing.

Posted: 1/5/05 at 9:24amTrue, but at least Donna always had her rabid defenders as well. This is always so one-sided.

Speaking of The Rathnait Coterie, poor Ashlee Simpson! BOOED at the beginning and end of her dreadful Orange Bowl half-time performance. When they showed her reaction at the end of the song and the shock came across her face and as it registered her chin quivered a little, I felt bad, because I do not lack empathy.
Then the camera pulled back and revealed she was standing in front of a giant black anarchy symbol, I said out loud, right to my television, "Oh f%$& this poseur, she deserves everything she gets."
Rathnait and Britney sittin in a tree, With Kevin Federline, I-N-E...

Come on Rath, get out the thesaurus. There isn't an ounce of bitterness in my post. Definitely some bile because I threw up in my mouth a little when I read you defending Britney yet again ("it's so one-sided" has to be the funniest thing you've written yet, I'm sure people would chat with Britney if she contributed to this thread, and would tell her the exact same things they are saying here, but Brits would need to charge each person 30 bucks, for real, ya'lls) and then as I thought of your girl Ashlee in black hotpants SCREECHING through some number in front of an anarchy symbol I threw up a little more. Clearly, bile is the natural response to such situations.
Every time somebody has a legitimate critique of a person or performance, it does not originate from a place of bitterness. It must be hard for you to grasp that concept.

Posted: 1/5/05 at 1:26pmYes. Terribly hard. Thanks for trying to explain, but my wittle bitty brain just can't wrap itself around the concept. As yours can't wrap itself around the concept that just because I can't stand one-sided bashing of anyone, doesn't mean I want Britney and Ashlee to come sing at my birthday party.

I'm sure if you send out enough invitations to your birthday party, SOMEBODY will show up, Rath.
I wish you could find a way to articulate what you mean by the word "bashing." It is, on the face of it, a VERY bad idea for Britney to write anything that "makes fun of Hollywood." It has been done dozens and dozens and dozens of times.
("I read this book, y'alls, it was really hard but so worth it. My moms gave it to me, it's called Day of the Locust and moms made a joke that a locust is a plague like Kevin. But there weren't any locusts in the book, yo. But it totally made fun of Hollywood, and I thought, I can do that I bet.")
It's an even worse idea for her to think she can write a musical, or DIRECT a musical. So people point that out and you scream "bashing."
Why you can not see that people criticizing several bad ideas all rolled into one by a person who has clearly demonstrated that if she once had any innate talent, she has squandered it, is beyond me. But it's definitely not "bashing." You're just picking easy lingo to describe something, and I think it's inaccurate.
As Juliette Lewis (of whom I am no big fan) says in her review of Britney's "Toxic" in the current Spin:
"If there were no human beings on earth left to make music, and you had robots creating each musical sound in a factory, this is what they would manufacture. This is the alien construction of music."
Meanwhile, you just brush off popcultureboy's very reasonable question about why when you do it to Donna Murphy it isn't bashing, but let one of your latex inflatable pop tartlettes come in for some criticism around here and you RUSH to the defense.
They are BAD performers Rath, they insult people's intelligence and take their money while doing so. That's not bashing. That's the truth.
