Britney Spears's Really Tiny Liquor Binge
It just goes to show you: You can take the girl out of Kentwood, but you can't make the girl stop drinking booze out of tiny bottles and chasing it with Red Bull while gorging on junk food with her skeezy dancer fiancé in Malibu. On some level, it's refreshing that Brit has temporarily eschewed Hollywood pretension and embraced her inner trailer park. But we can't quite shake the fear [Ed. note--hope] she'll soon be opening a meth lab in her tour bus.

UPDATE: Some have suggested that The Sun got it wrong and the little bottle from which Britney swigs probably contains ginseng. Oh, you can get drunk on that stuff? We're switching to ginseng right now, we just need to find a tiny brown paper bag. Cheers!

I think only magazines have fact checkers, since they have at least a week to do their work. In newspapers, the author is supposed to check his own facts, and maybe the editor. At least, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Maybe they use fact checkers for big features or multi-part stories that take a while to write.

That said, the Post was never exactly known for its editorial stringency. In the past year alone they've had the Kerry VP mixup and that hilarious Red Sox Beat Yankees headline.

Ah, that was priceless. As for whether Spears is pregnant- I don't give a ****. Except for the sake of her child. Hopefully the kid will have a good nanny.

facts, schmacts, the post is a money-making venture. that said, how many more people will be buying the post to see what outrageous thing they'll print next. of those people, what percentage will be seduced by the plain spoken us vs. then politics of the post's editorial page? #1 is about money. #2 is about influence. laugh at them, but anything that gets their ideas seen by more people, gets more coin in their pockets and keeps the words "new york post" being uttered by other media outlets serves their purposes. hell, this is all free advertising. even if they do have to pay off britney, it's more than offset by the amount they saved in having to run commercials to drum up business. why advertise when your rivals are getting your name out there for you?

That's certainly true to an extent, papa, however, at some point it does become embarrassing and even dangerous to their bottom line to be marketed as a daily newspaper and yet continue to be caught running false stories as if they were a weekly national tabloid.

not when you're owned by rupert murdoch. the sun still masquerades as a newspaper in the uk. every paper blows stories. the post just does it so spectacularly lately. besides, this britney thang is just a page six story writ large and they've survived enough of those. plus, who thinks they don't have something much worse on ol' britney that they think gives them cover to print this? i bet her lawsuit quietly goes away.
