Ok, apparently I have Bronchitis! Bronchitis and Me... either that or pneumonia. It's not definite, but i'm now on antibiotics for it and if they don't work, that means i have pneumonia~ AHHHH! i've never had bronchitis! it's frustrating... AND my show is this Thursday and Saturday! And, all i did in choir rehearsals this evening was sit around and listen cause i can't sing, apparently. I mean I CAN, but i'm not supposed to I assume... I sang a high E today with this amazing sophomore who can play the piano phenomenally (he composes like crazy and is so incredible)...
anyone ever had this? any advice? May I sing or will that be bad? Should I be on vocal rest so that for the show I can do well? It's not a musical... it's The Man Who Came to Dinner.

any advice would be phenomenal!

well... those meds are kicking in and i'm drowsy... buhbyeeee!

I had bronchitis my senior year of high school. It sucks! I got it on the second day of my choir trip to New York and couldn't sing, let alone talk, and of course I couldn't do anything about it until I got home. And when we got to meet and sing with Kelli Rabke I couldn't sing with them and I was the only one who knew who she actually was. I was sooooooooooo dissapointed. I slept on the couch in my hotel room so as not to get anyone else sick. It blowed chunks. I hope you feel better. And my advice is, if you have a voice take it easy, because mine just kept coming in and out. Don't do any unnecessary talking and drink lots of fluids and keep on the antibiotics! Feel better soon!

btw, i got this on Thursday, a day after seeing Wicked, and meeting Idina Menzel, who currently has bronchitis (or just got over it)... so maybe i got it from talking with her for a bit!

ahhh... i got bronchitis from Idina Menzel! we breathe the same air! re: Bronchitis and Me

Maybe you should be like Idina, and not talk at all...AT ALL.
And have plenty of hot steamy showers, 'cos I hear they help.

Wait. She was singing/performing with Bronchitis? What the hell is she thinking? I know she's all OC about her attendance but she has an understudy for a reason! And as for you, I sure hope it's not pnemonia... that would really suck. I've never had Bronchitis before but I have had pnemonia. Just keep speaking to a minimum (save what voice you have left for your show), definately no singing (it could make it worse, but I'm not really sure) drink TONS of water even if you aren't thirsty, and I suggest staying home and just sleeping/relaxing for a day or 2. shower more often than you normally would (The steam amy help your voice) try not to get anyone else in your family sick, and stay on top of those meds your doctor gave you as well re: Bronchitis and Me Hope you feel better soon!

Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do... RIP Jason

Thanks for all the advice. I'm definitely gonna try to keep quiet, and haven't talked in 24 hours... which was difficult last night, especially just sitting there during a few choir rehearsals. i DO have to go to school though for the next few days or else I won't me able to come afterschool to any stuff, including the show and rehearsals... so i'm just gonna be really quiet and lazy through the day. :)

Yay~ our opening night was last night for THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER and because I had been on vocal rest for 2 days before, and only spoke at the Dress Rehearsal in my scenes and in the performance, I was fine! And the show went amazingly well! I was soooo glad!
btw, what's a good gift for a high school director w/ $75?
like a gift certificate to starbucks?
or maybe like a penguin stuffed animal w/ a scarf and gloves (Winter is coming up/penguin theme in the show)
